Lenovo Announces Huge Recall of Notebook Batteries
If you have bought a Lenovo notebook you might want to read this. Today, Lenovo announced the recall of about 205 000 notebook batteries. The batteries were extended life 9-cell battery packs. Interestingly, the safety concern springs because the batteries tend to overheat after they experience a strong external impact (eg. falling).
The overheated batteries can explode and produce a fire.
Lenovo sold these batteries with these notebooks:
- R60 and R60e Series
- T60 and T60p Series
- Z60m, Z61e, Z61m, and Z61p Series
The notebooks were sold with both the regular and extended life 9-cell batteries. Only some of the larger extended life batteries are being recalled. Check your battery to see if they have this part number FRU P/N 92P1131.
If that is the case it is being recalled.
