Google Launches Paid Office Apps

Well, Google is definitely pumping it’s web muscles in the face of Microsoft. Yesterday, Google announced Google Appls Premier Edition which hosted business applications that includes phone support, additional storage space, and a now set of administration and business integration capabilities.

Google Apps combines applications like Gmail, Google Calendar, Google Talk, all in one suite. Google is continuing to work closely with Proctor and Gamble to refine this to benefit business. Over 100 000 small business currently use Google Apps.

The new applications that Google released yesterday were Google Docs & Spreadsheet. Here are some features of the new Premier Edition:

  • 10 GBs of storage
  • 99.9% uptime
  • APIs for business integration
  • 24 x 7 support for critical issues
  • $50 cost per user per year

Even at $50 per account you get so much. I mean they have basically packaged all the necessary Office software into one bundle. Microsoft’s Office software costs about $499. I can’t see Google going wrong.

Now Microsoft might argue that they service more business and homes than Google does and that’s true. But with this price model and if their support and uptime remain excellent Google could throw a huge punch.
