Bye Bye JPEG. Hello HD Photo
Microsoft has announced that the JPEG’s image format days are over. Ushered in is a new file format fit for gadgets and devices that feature HD everything. Microsoft’s new file format, HD Photo, has a higher quality, and is preserved longer than the JPEG.
The HD Photo also can compress itself 200% better than the JPEG format.
Microsoft will be submitting the file format to a standards organization shortly. The HD Photo is already found in Vista operating systems (so if you bought one already then you’re in luck).
R.I.P. JPEG.
P.S. I’m currently working on a web project which is why Gazotto hasn’t been so updated as often as I would like. Don’t worry it’s still alive and kicking ;).
