BlackBerry Curve

Blackberry CurveIf you’re on the fence about Apple’s iPhone, the BlackBerry Curve might make for a good replacement. Compared to the Pearl, the Curve has larger screen—320×240 pixels. And it has a full keyboard, which is very nice.

The BlackBerry Curve (model 8300) has a 2 megapixel digital camera, which is okay, but it’s not “WOW” by any means. Basically, it matches the iPhone’s camera.

The phone feature I like is the ability to upload those shots to Flickr and Yahoo. It makes click and share so easy.

It features all the expected email and messaging features. You text via SMS and MMS and you can have up to 10 email accounts. And it supports Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger.

One thing that never fails, when I’m in a new area, I get lost. BlackBerry Curve has BlackBerry Maps to solve this problem (only in supported countries). And you can hook up a Bluetooth-enabled GPS receiver, which is very nice.

The BlackBerry Curve has a great media player, but I’ll be honest. I’m an iPod man. I’ve purchased an iPod full of songs from iTunes. Still, you can download and play videos and music on the Curve and it does come with a desktop media manager. And of course, you can use microSD cards.

As you might already know, this smartphone has a browser built it. It’s not Safari, but it will get the job done. And the Blackberry Curve has all the other features that they’re known for—like the organizer.

The third party apps help this phone scale—something that’s unknown with the iPhone. The Curve grows to have games, record keeping, diet and exercise apps, document creation and editing and the list goes on.

So, if the iPhone isn’t an option for you, give the BlackBerry Curve a look.
