The iPhone (the juicy, sleek Apple phone) we previously reviewed has to be one of the most talked about gadgets at the moment on the Internet. However, iSuppli, a consulting firm has released some interesting numbers regarding what it costs to make the phone and what Apple will be making from it.
The 4 GB iPhone which will sell for $499 is estimated to cost $246 (including manufacturing costs). The 8GB iPhone will sell for $599 and is estimated to cost $265 (including manufacturing costs).
No doubt this phone is expensive and in a highly competitive market like the cell phone market these prices are huge. I’ve seen very few phones priced this high and with their 50% profit margins it is expected that Apple will drop their prices on the phones.
Just don’t expect it to be soon.
