Apple and Cisco Kiss And Make Up

Well the Apple and Cisco trademark fiasco is all over. Late yesterday the two sides finally came to an agreement over the “iPhone” trademark dispute. Cisco owned the iPhone trademark before Apple released its iPhone. Apple was in talks with Cisco, but even though no agreement was reached they went ahead and released the iPhone anyway.

PC Magazine is now reporting that the two feuding parties have settled out of court. The statement released by the companies stated that both companies will “explore opportunities for interoperability in the areas of security, consumer, and enterprise communications.” The rest of the terms have been kept confidential.

While the whole iPhone trademark dispute is done with Cisco PC Magazine also hinted that ComWave Telecom has used the iPhone trademark in Canada to sell a phone with internet service. A UK company might also be suing Apple as it owns the UK patent to a touch screen and certain touch screen applications.

So Apple’s headaches are not just done yet.
