So, you’ve got your warm cup of java near your basement computer, or, maybe you’re at work with that warm cup of coffee.
As you work, (and keep a watchful eye on the boss) the coffee unfortunately begins to get cold. You spit as you, take another sip. The taste, the fragrance, the bloodshot-eyed caffeine is all gone.
Well, now that’s all solved. ChowsChina has produced a rather interesting USB gadget: a coffee warmer that plugs right into your computer.
The USB Coffee Warmer comes in three colors: white, silver, and black.
The Coffee Warmer is USB powered which means you just stick it into your computer.
You can keep anything from coffee, tea, or other drinks at a maximum temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.
The heat plate is suited best for regular sized cups and measures 7.6cm in diameter.
This idea makes so much sense to me, because you don’t have to get up to get another warm cup, when there is one right there for you.
Its closeness to the computer is what makes this gadget ideal.
And hey, a coffee warmer that plugs into your computer? That’s pretty neat.

2I own one of these things. I thought “Hey, thats worth $15.
Well, I was wrong. This thing sucks. It certainly doesn’t keep my coffee warm. I mean, sure, it doesn’t get cold quite as fast, but certainly NOT what it boasts it does.
Besides, I have a coffee warmer already and its only a few feet away. Its called a microwave. Don’t buy this, unless you LIKE useless crap.

3A friend of mine bought one of these and it’s great if you use tiny cups for your coffee but a standard mug won’t fit! somone needs to make a bigger one of these pronto!

5My boss got one of these a few months ago. The one he has sucks - doesn’t keep warm enough and crashes his laptop.

6I think that the USB Coffee warmer is better suited to a PC and not a labtop. The reason for that is that it uses the power of the computer (obviously).
I think that it could have been the reason it was causing the laptop to crash.
But in any event, I would recommend this for computers and not for laptops.

8Considering that a USB port is only rated for at most 5V at 1A the most heat you could generate is about 5W assuming it’s 100% efficient. Somehow I don’t think that’s enough energy to compensate for heat losses to the air.

9Maximum USB power is rated 5V 500mA. That is only 2.5W if 100% efficient.
I think it will never had enough power to warm up your cup of tea.

10I think it should run off of FireWire (for those of us who have it). I mean, think about it…the name says “hot!” It would be perfect!
