Alright for those salivating as they await the release of the PlayStation 3 there is important information below which you don’t want to pass up. Firstly, we’re going to discuss the new controller for the PlayStation 3. Secondly, we’ll look into release information about the console here and North America and finally look at the PlayStation’s pricing.
The Controller
Remember how people we’re mocking PlayStation 3 for those elongated controllers. Well they must have done away with those because the real PlayStation controller has come out and looks much more realistic.
The controller will be able to connect wirelessly to the PS3. The controller is able to detect roll, pitch and yaw, but it also will relay 3D information (the X, Y, and Z axis). Sony claims that it will seem as “if the controller has become part of your body” due to a more natural play the controller gives.
However, what I found a little disappointing is that because of the new 6-axis sensing system mentioned above, force feedback will no longer be included in the controller. Sony found that the vibration created interfered with the information be relayed. I guess this may also have to do with the Bluetooth connection.
The L2 and R2 buttons are larger on the new controller and the tilting angle of the controller has been broadened to ensure more delicate use. The controllers also have USB connection but, you aren’t forced to use this “wired” option.
Release Date in North America
Grab a pen, write it on your forehead, or somewhere you will remember it. The release date of the PlayStation 3 console is November 17, 2006 in North America.
What’s it Gonna Cost?
The price model is as follows. A PS3 with a 20 GB Hard Drive Disk (HDD) will cost you $499 (US) and the 60 GB HDD PS3 will run for $599.99. In Canada the 20 GB HDD PS3 will cost $549 (CAN) and the 60 GB HDD PS3 will cost $659.
The prices are higher than the XBox 360 which starts at $299 (core system) and $399 (pemium).
