If you remember awhile back we talked about SanDisk selling USB drives that would be change the way you played a computer game. Well, this week Sony has released the Memory Stick Entertainment Packs.
These Entertainment Packs consists of a 1GB and 2GB Memory Stick Duo card from Sony. The flash card is bundled with an installer DVD. The DVD contains four movies (currently only four are being offered: Hitch,S.W.A.T,The Grudge, and XXX: State of the Union) .
You then use a code to unlock one (yes only one) and you can transfer that full movie onto your Memory Stick Duo flash card. Memory flash cards can be used in phones, cameras and camcorders to record video or store images.
However, the video can’t be played back on any of these devices even if they have video playback capabilities. The only device that the video will play back from is the PSP from Sony.
I thought, that was kind of pointless, unless you are the proud owner of a PSP. If you own the PSP then you get a free video with your 1 GB or 2 GB Memory card.
However, this whole feature is pointless for those who don’t a PSP (like myself). Since the video is only optomized for PSP playback.
The 1GB (MSX-M1GSTEP) and 2GB (MEX-M2GSEP) Memory Stick Entertainment Packs are going to come out next month and will cost roughly $60 and $100 (US) respectively.

1I love Sony… always have. My dream living room is filled with Sony just about everything. But they sure do some really stupid, pointless things sometimes. What in the world is the point of all this? It seems like waaaaaaaaaay more trouble than it’s worth, and I just don’t see a lot of people going through the hassle to do all this.

2What’s the point? Surely people would just buy UMD movies for less than half the price and hassle?!
