Sony, today, released the S2 Sports Walkman, a music player that doubles as a fitness tool. These new tools are placed within the S2 Sports Walkman to help those who workout or run.
One such feature is the Music Pacer feature. This feature uses Sony’s G-Sensor technology to track your speed, tempo, and acceleration. With that information it then selects a playlist that is appropriate for the speed you are walking or running at.
The Shuffle Shake feature allows the user to switch to Shuffle playing mode by shaking the player 3 times within 2 seconds. It then will play songs in random order.
The S2 Sports Walkman from Sony also can keep track of important workout information. For example, it keeps track of the number of steps taken, the distance traveled and the calories burned by the user.
You also have the ability to set the targets for your next workout in the same categories: time, distance, and calories burned. The player also records the information from the last 7 workouts so you can see your progress. It also works as a stopwatch.
If you love working out at the gym, Sony’s S2 Walkman packs a couple more features. One is the built-in FM tuner which let’s you listen to FM radio while you work out and also let’s you listen tune into TV stations that are being viewed at the gym and hear the audio.
Battery life is pegged at roughly 18 hours with a full battery.
The S2 Walkman looks like a cylinder in shape and is the size of a tube of lipstick. It weighs roughly an ounce and comes in 1 GB (685 songs) and 2 GB (1,350 songs) storage capacities. The S2 Sports Walkman costs $120 (US) and $130 (US) respectively.
