Sony Releases N Series Notebook

Sony N Series Notebook Computer

Sony has launched the new N Series notebook which it claims is made to look stylish in your home. They offer three colors: black, white, and a brown (not shown above) which looks like wood. It definitely has a curvy and sleek look.

The N Series notebooks feature a 15.4-inch widescreen display and also come with Sony’s XBRITE technology allowing you to view video and images in a clear and bright fashion.

Inside the N Series, comes a 1.86 GHz Intel Core Solo processor. It is reasonably fast for a notebook, but doesn’t offer the advantage of a Duo Core processor. The N Series notebook computer comes with 512MB of RAM but allows you to upgrade to a maximum of 2 GB or memory.

The hard drive only comes in an 80 GB capacity which I was a little disappointed in. It’s not bad, but I would have loved to see greater capacities especially if you are a music, game, or film lover.

The notebook comes with integrated video accelerators (i.e. no video card). The N Series notebook is however Vista Ready so when Vista is launched you can upgrade from XP to Vista easily.

However, this notebook is being priced at $1000 (price at time of post) and will be available in October 2006. The notebook does work for those who don’t require anything overly dedicated and it would make a good first notebook. It will allow you to access the internet, burn DVDs, and run applications.
