Sony today has unveiled their newest USB drives, and these are really tiny. The new line is called Micro Vault Tiny. The capacities all run from 256 MB of storage space all the way up to 4 GB. The dimensions of the new line are about 1 inch long and 0.5 inches in width.

The Micro Vault Tiny USB drives are about as thick as a quarter.

Sony has decided to color code the different capacities as you can see pictured. While this simplifies it for the buyer I really wished companies would allow a buyer to select whatever color they wish instead of marrying it with a capacity. Having said that it is only a USB drive, however, some love the colors.

So here’s the color code: 256MB (orange), 512MB (violet), 1GB (blue), 2GB (green) and 4GB (purple). Thankfully Sony hasn’t just given you the drive. These are really tiny and could be easily lost.

Sony gives you a clip-on carrying case which you can wear or attach to purses, other covers, straps and so on so you don’t lose the drive. The Tiny USB drives have Virtual Expander software on the drives.

Virtual Expander allows you to compress files and allow for 3 times as much storage space.

As for the prices of the Tiny USB drives, they will range anywhere from $29.99 to $199.99 (US).
