Sony Introduces Playstation Spot

Sony has introduced a new feature for the PSP called PlayStation Spot. Playstation Spot is currently launcing in Europe only, but it’s a pretty neat feature that could also be implemented in North America as well.

The Playstation Spot allows a user to connect to a Wide Local Arean Network (WLAN) and receive free content as a result. The free content you can download to your PSP are things such as game demos, music, trailers, images, and other content

Sony also states that the PlayStation Spot feature might also be used as a platform for companies to place promotional content. PlayStation Spot will launch in Italy, Spain, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, UK, Germany, Belgium, and Australia.

How To Access The PlayStation Spot Feature

  1. Turn on your PSP and place WLAN switch to ON.
  2. Go to the Home Menu and press the 5 icon. Then select the % icon and press the j button to confirm.
  3. Wait as your PSP begins to search for downloadable content.
  4. Select the content you want to download and press the j button to confirm.
  5. Wait for the download to complete.
  6. Play the downloaded content as much as you want.

However, what you should know is that you can’t save the files to your Memory Stick. While you can play the downloaded content as long as you like the content will be erased once the PSP is turned.

I think that’s kind of a sour note to a great idea. Hopefully Sony allows you to keep the downloaded content.
