Sony Creates Mobile Broadband Capable Notebooks
Sony has teamed up with Sprint to create notebooks that allow the user to connect to a mobile broadband service. Sony’s VGN-TXN10 notebook series will have wireless LAN, Bluetooth, and Wireless Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity.
Sprint ower VisionSM Network and have the ability to e-mail, download large files, and browse the Net - all at broadband speeds. What is great about Sprint’s network is that you don’t need to be in a hotspot to use it, because it can be accessed in areas that aren’t necessarily hotspots.
While the network covers a large area currently Sprint is also extending the network. I think the logical progression would be to have a whole country under a wireless WAN so that you could acess it anywhere.
The VGN-TXN10 notebook from sony runs on an Intel Solo Core processor and a 5 to 11 hour battery life. Other features of the notebook from Sony: a fingerprint scanner to add more security, a shock protected hard drive and an 11.1-inch widescreen display.
The VGN-TXN10 notebook series comes in four colors: black, sienna, white, and blue. It will be available in October 2006 for roughly $2300 (US).
