Sony today released its first Blu-Ray rewritable burner for computers. Sony had previously released Blu-Ray discs and notebooks.
Sony’s first burner finally completes the cycle. Since Blu-Ray discs, notebooks, and burners have all been released now someone is able to burn high definition media onto Blu-Ray Disc (BD). The BDs will have the capability of storing up to 50 GB of data (on a dual layer disc).
That amount is sufficient to store upwards of 4 hours of video containing high definition content onto one single disc. What’s also neat is that you are able to view any content you have recorded onto high definition video camcorders.
The Blu-Ray burner also can write on single layer discs with storage capacities of 4.7 GB and 8.5 GB. Sony’s BWU-100A drive doesn’t leave you high and dry. Sony packs software that allows the recording, editing, and burning of high definition content for all to use.
The recordable/rewritable BWU-100A drive is going to come out in August 2006 for roughly $750. If you interested Sony is accepting pre-orders at sonystyle.com.
