Sony and Longs Drugs (store in the US) have joined together to create a simple place where one can upload digital images they took and have them printed at their local Longs Drugs store within one hour.
Here in Canada Shopper’s Drugs Mart has a similar kind of service. Anyway, Sony has has called the service Sony’s ImageStation and has setup a website for it.
ImageStation allows the user to upload images and videos and store or share them online. However, users can also choose to have their images printed at a one of the 477 Longs Drug store locations in the West Coast and Hawaii.
The sizes that you can have your image printed in are:wallet size, 4 x 6-inch, 5 x 7-inch, or 8 x 10-inch prints. ImageStation also gives information of all Longs Drugs locations in case you aren’t sure if one exists in your area and allows you to save that store for later orders.
All prints are ready within one hour of ordering them. The price you pay is the prices set by Longs Drugs and you don’t have to worry about any shipping fees.
On top of that, if you really love that image you have ImageStation will also allow you to order unique photo gifts which include making your image into coffee table books, mugs, puzzles, tote bags and calendars.
I think the service is great because more and more consumers are beginning to buy online. Since, many customers store their images on a computer, it makes sense that an online solution be set up to get the images from your computer to a store without having to store them on a card and bringing them into a store.
