Sandisk has announced the release of the newest model of the Sansa e280 music player. The new model features a 2 GB micro SD memory card, bringing the total flash memory of the player to 10GB.
We previously reviewed the e200 line and compared it to the iPod nano.
10 GB is the largest flash capacity for an mp3 player (Apple’s 30 and 60 GB players feature hard disk drives and not flash memory). 10 GB of storage space allows for 2,500 songs to be stored on the Sansa e280.
The dimensions of the player are 1.7 in. (w) x 3.5 in. (l) x 0.5 in. (h). It features a 1.8-inch TFT screen. The Sansa e280 can play music, videos, and display images.
What is neat about this player is that while at the moment it has only 10 GB of capacity, larger capacities of the micro SD card will be produced. If you purchase those in the future you could simply slide it into the slot for even more storage capacity.
Some other features of the Sansa e280 player are the built-in microphone which allows for voice recording and an FM tuner for easy radio listening.
The Sansa e280 media player can run for 20 hours on it’s user replacable and rechargable lithium-ion battery.
Sandisk has dropped the prices for it’s 2 GB, 4GB, and 6GB models (click here for full Sansa e200 information). For the Sansa e280 it is now priced at $249.99 (US).
