Samsung released their newest monitor in the SyncMaster 215TW. The SyncMaster 215TW is a pretty decent notebook with a good 21-inch screen. Not exactly eye popping but still pretty large.

This monitor boasts a 8 ms response time, which is faster than the 12 ms average, but still is one the slower end of the fastest models. The quick response time reduces blur on the screen.

It’s brightness is standard like in most computer monitors you buy today but it’s contrast ratio is an above average at 1000:1 ensuring that a sharp picture is seen by the viewer.

The horizontal viewing angles of the SyncMaster 215TW are very good at 178 degrees. The 0.270 pixel pitch is average for LCD monitors around.

Samsung always packs their monitors with good features and this one is just like the rest. They have added some nice features into the mix.

MagicBright2

This feature is part of the Magic line of Samsung features. It allows the monitor to adjust it’s brightness when viewing different things on the monitor. The 6 settings allowed are documents, internet, games, sports, movies, and a customized one you can create.

Connections

The SyncMaster 215TW has connections that allow an audio home theater system, DVD player, laptop computer, and camcorder to all be connected to the monitor.

Picture In Picture and Picture by Picture

The monitor also has a neat feature that allows picture in picture (like your TV). It allows you to work on documents and view a movie in a smaller area at the same time for example. Picture by Picture allows the screen to be split and you can work on a document on one half of the screen while watching a movie on the other half.

What’s also neat is that they offer a 3 year warranty on the parts, labour, and backlight and while that’s not the most amazing thing about the monitor it’s good to see companies giving
more than just the standard 1 year to their customers.

The SyncMaster 215 TW costs $549.99 (US) and is currently available. For more info visit Samsung’s product page.
