Samsung has unveiled the P900D cell phone. It uses the Digital Multimedia Broadcasting standard and basically allows for TV users to watch television on their cell phone. The current demonstration is in Germany. Samsung first started out with 4 TV channels. It has added 4 more TV channels, 14 radio stations and 2 visual radio stations, bringing the total to 24.

Samsung uses what are called “L-Band” or wave band to broadcast the signals. On one such wave band Samsung is now broadcasting 8 radio stations and 4 TV channels. Samsung has already purchased another L-Band and will soon be adding the other 4 TV channels.

For those, wondering what visual radio was, it’s basically radio, but pictures are broadcast and sent to your phone every 2 seconds.

Samsung likes what DMB has to offer and the limits really haven’t been set on cell phones such as this one. In the future public television might also be broadcasted or at least at the minimum more channels would be added.

The Samsung P900 cell phone comes with stereo speakers, a digital sound amplifier, 150 MB of storage space, and micro SD memory slots.

On top of that it also acts as an mp3 player and a 2.0 megapixel digital camera. It also is Bluetooth enabled so you can use a Bluetooth headset.

The screen is very large, and is probably flipable to the 90 degree angle shown in the image. The horizontal position gives a much larger TV viewing area to the user.
