Samsung Releases Its Own Blu-Ray DVD player

Samsung, one of nine companies that currently support the Blu-Ray format DVD player has come out with a DVD player of its own. This Blu-Ray DVD player will be the first to hit the US market. Samsung’s BD-P1000 Blu-Ray DVD player will be available beginning June 25, 2006.
With the release of the Blu-Ray DVD player in the US, it will allow Americans to play high definition content (from Blu-Ray discs) and watch it on high definition televisions.
The Blu-Ray vs. HD DVD format wars is still brewing, as both sides release players. Current DVD players us a red laser beam to read and write data onto a DVD disc. However, the Blu-Ray format uses a blue laser instead of a red one, which allows better management of the data on the disc and up to five times more data stored on it.
The Samsung BD-P1000 plays high definition content at the standard 1080p HDMI resolution. The BD-P1000 also allows users to convert a DVD disc into a Blu-Ray disc. It also plays all your DVDs and CDs that you currently possess.
The gadget also contains a 10-in-2 card reader which allows you to insert memory cards such as Secure Digital, XD Picture Card, Memory Stick and others and view a slideshow of pictures right on your television screen.
Seven of the eight major movie studios have announced that they will be releasing movies in the Blu-ray format. It is expected that there will be around 200 movies available on Blu-Ray discs before the end of 2006.
Samsung’s BD-P1000 will cost $999.99 dollars.
