Samsung released their first smartphone today. The slim SGH-i320 is definitely a sign that Samsung will move into the smartphone market. The Samsung i320 is only 11.3 millimeters in thickness, contains a QWERTY keyboard, and weighs 95 grams.

The QWERTY keyboard is similar to one used on a keyboard. And because many of us use the computer a lot, it makes text messaging, and e-mailing a lot easier to accomplish.

The Samsung 1320 runs on the Windows Mobile 5.0 Smartphone Operating System. This allows a user to have a simple interface to write e-mails, type up memos and so on. Samsung states that this phone is great for those who love sending and receiving e-mails via their phone.

What I thought was good about this phone was the decent 2.2-inch LCD screen. I didn’t like the fact that the built-in camera (yup it has one) only has 1.3 megapixels. But since this is Samsung’s first smart phone, I’ll cut them some slack.

Other neat features, was the fact that the i320 was Bluetooth enabled and had dual speakers. It has 120 MB embedded memory which you can add on microSD flash cards. The smartphone also supports the storage and playback of music files.

The SGH-i320 will be ready in Europe and South East Asia within one month.
