Cell phones just keep shedding fat. It seems like every month a new cell phone has a thinner “waistline”. Today Samsung released a very thin phone in the P310 mobile phone. The mobile phone has a 220 x 176 pixel display.
Even though it’s tiny and compact, Samsung found a way of cramming in some good features into the petite phone. It has a built-in 2.0 megapixel camera with a 4 x digital zoom. The camera has a auto-focus function and even has the ability to record video.
Added to that the P310 cell phone also acts as an mp3 player. The phone allows you to store songs, on its 80 MB internal memory.
However, the P310 is also expandable. It comes with a Micro SD flash card slot which theoretically would allow a lot more memory (up to 4GB) to be added to the phone. This would give one more freedom in storing images.
The phone also enables Bluetooth connectivity. It comes with a brushed metal back and a black carrying case (so you don’t lose it).
Gizmodo.com claimed that phone looked a lot like a calculator and therefore lost it’s “coolness”. I would have to disagree. I didn’t think the phone looked anything like a calculator and actually liked the sleekness and smallness of the phone.
The P310 from Samsung will be released in the final quarter of 2006. Unfortunately, it will not be available in American markets.
