I thought this was a neat story as I was doing my daily surf on the Net. It’s a story of a 14 year old boy who has epilepsy. The Washington University in St. Louis used a team of neurosurgeons, neurologists, and engineers to allow this boy to play a video game using his brain.
They team believes that this kind of research could be used in creating artificial limbs that respond to our brain signals. In other words one would think of an action and that action would be read by the prosthetic arm for example and then acted upon.
The boy played Atari’s Space Invaders, and successfully managed to master two levels using just his brain. A pretty neat story of how technology is not just gadgetry but its primary goal is to help us even within the medical field.
The link below features the full story and also gives a really neat video clip.
