This photo frame has been around for awhile, but it’s an interesting twist on the typical picture frame. The gadget is a framed LCD screen with a built in card reader, and USB connection that increases the dynamics of a normal frame.

The 7-inch frame has a maximum resolution of 720 by 480 pixels. The display also has a very strong viewing area: the viewing angle is 170 degrees both vertically and horizontally. The dimness off the picture can also be changed to suit the area where it is placed. The screens lifetime is a lengthy 200000 hours at 50% brightness.

So, how do you get digital images from your computer into the frame? One simply connects their digital camera into the computer and then connect the frame to the PC as well. Once connected the files can be easily transferred over.

The built in card reader can support a wide variety of card types: Secure digital, Multimedia Card, Memory stick, Memory Stick Pro, Compact Flash type I. This of course allows one to add more photos into the frame.

The digital photo frame also has some convenient options so that you can set the image(s) to display however you wish. You can either display one photo, thumbnails of photos stored, or a slideshow that you are able to create.

You can also set when the frame will go off and on (to conserve the battery). The battery life is only lasts 0.8 hours, but thankfully you can also hook it up to a AC outlet for constant power.

I think that the digital photo frame is neat. Its an interesting spin on something that really isn’t a gadget. If you wanna check it out visit Philips’ product page.
