Panasonic has come out with two new models, each 58-inch of full Plasma screen. These large televisions are aimed at being able to provide the most technologically superior High-Definition (HD) plasma televisions for every room size and viewing environment.

The HDTVs can support about 29 billion different colours. It has a stunning 10000:1 contrast ratio (darkest picture to lightest picture) and a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution. Panasonic has definitely increased the quality of their plasma TVs. In 2005, their plasma television screens had a 3,000:1 contrast ratio and could only support 8 billion colors.

The new plasma screens also fit right in the middle of their 50″ and 65″ screens.

EZ Sync

Panasonic’s goal was also to try to eliminate any learning curve for this HDTV. They have integrate the EZ Sync. The remote contains one button that controls all components: the DVD recorder, surround-sound system and television all turn on at once and is ready for the DVD to be used.

The feature also has a built in Secure-Digital (SD) Memory Card slot, so that you can view images and slideshows without cables.

Other Features

It also simplifies the need for many cables, with its single cable connection to DVD recorders and Media Center PCs.

Andrew Nelkin, Vice President of Panasonic’s Display Group, stated the reason behind these features were put there because it is no longer a placer for the “technically literate”, but “has become the general public’s market”.

The two models: TH-58PX600U and the TH-58PX60U will be available in the summer of 2006. The TH-58PX600U will go for $5999.95 and the TH-58PX60U will cost $5499.95.

The difference between the two models is that the TH-58PX60U, doesn’t have a CableCARD slot, PC Input, or TV-Guide EPG.

But at 58-inches of pure television scree I wouldn’t be complaining too much. I was impressed by the strong contrast ratio and color support. The only question I have is if this thing fit’s in my room?
