So, TV screens are getting bigger - way bigger. Well, this one is the Goliath of all Plasma TVs. 103-inches of beautiful Plasma screen. For those currently drooling, grab a kleenex, because this baby is going to be available very soon.

Since being on display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this year, the largest Plasma screen made its way to New York Stock Exchange for a one day showcasing, one week ago.

And who wouldn’t want to see this thing. The 103 inch Plasma TV from Panasonic contains over 2 million pixels and has a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080. Plasma screen technology works very well under large circumstances. The viewer is able to see clear and sharp images no matter what his or her viewing angle is.

Plasma works better than LCD when dealing with larger displays. However, due the monstrosity of the panel Panasonic actually had some difficulties allowing the panel to to maintain picture stability, and they had to develop new technology to get the panel to work over 100 inches. The quality is uniform throughout the panel.

The panel also incorperates Panosonic’s 1080p HD high-speed pixel drive, creating a High Definition experience that is unlike any other screen. The contrast ratio for the 103-inch HD Panel is a sharp 3000:1 and has a 16:9 aspect ratio. The plasma TV has the following viewable area dimensions: Width: 7.5’ Height: 4.2’ Diagonal: 8.5’ (yup, that’s feet people).

Mr. Hiroyuki Nagano, Director, PDP Device Business Unit of Panasonic AVC Networks Company, stated the reason behind the release of their largest plasma screen:

“Until now, the market for 100-plus-inch screens was dominated by front projection TVs. Panasonic now realizes another option in this sector. Our 103-inch 1080p PDP promises high quality images with high brightness, dynamic contrast, high resolution and excellent color reproduction that projection displays cannot match. We believe it will create strong demand as a multipurpose display for business, educational and medical applications as well as home theater use.”

The large screen is probably not the greatest for those living in a small area, but if you can afford it and have the room for it, can you imagine watching sporting events on this thing, or playing video games? This is truly a home theater.

The 103-inch panel will be available in December 2006, but the price is still to be announced. Gazotto will keep you updated.
