Project Origami is Microsoft’s code name for its newest gadget. And this one looks juicy though the website set up is rather mysterious and never mention’s Microsoft. There are many rumors floating around about what it could possibly be.
Could it be the end to the iPod? Is it like the iPod? Engadget.com managed to get some pictures that they believe could be pictures of the Origami Project. The one you see here could be it, but of course we can’t be sure that that is so until Microsoft releases more information.
Here is what the rumor mill is putting out right now about Project Origami:
Microsoft has also setup a website for the project: origamiproject.com. There is a flash video that you can watch. The video begins with a circle and that says “touch me”.
Once you click on it the text below (broken up into parts of course) is displayed.
hello.
do you know me?
do you know what I can do?
and where I can go?
or how I can change your life?
you will.
learn more on 3.2.06.
As you can see from the text and even if you watch the video, it’s really unclear what the gadget will do.
I believe it won’t be a gadget that is going to compete with Apple. I think that it looks more like a multimedia tablet PC to me. From that old video (not the one on the new site) it looks very much that way.
Of course, ideas can change in a years time.
We’ll be waiting to see if there is any announcements form Microsoft or any updates to the website. There seems to be links such as “week 2″ and “week 3″ that don’t lead anywhere at the moment, but of course would have us believe that these will soon be updated.
