Apple has reached its 1 billionth song download from it’s legal music store, iTunes. Over its three years, music purchases have gained much popularity. Many people now realize that it’s better to download legally then to do so illegally.

And the iTunes store has brought legal music downloads right to people’s computers.

Alex Ostrovsky a citizen of West Bloomfield, Michigan was the lucky person who downloaded, “Speed of Sound” by Coldplay.

He is now the winner of a 20-inch iMac, 10 fifth generation iPods and a $10 000 gift card for any items in the iTunes Music store.

Now as we finish reeling with jealousy, Apple has also established a scholarship in his name at the Juilliard School of Music. How cool is that?

The iTunes Music Store also has done pretty well in the video department. Over 15 million videos have been downloaded from the store.
