Today we’re going to look at a gadget by Active Tunes that allows people to attach a speaker system to their bike so that they can connect it to an iPod, mp3 player, or satellite radio, and enjoy better sound while on the move.
The speakers come with a mounting bracket that attaches them to the handlebars of a bike and can be taken off the bike just as easily. The iPod speakers can be placed in any position on the handlebars so you can place them however you wish.
Once attached you can also attach a pouch to the bike which will house the music player or radio. Then you simply attach a line-in audio cable from the player to the speakers. Turn the player on and you have sound.
In the end I don’t understand why you just can’t use ear buds. It definitely is a unique design and would appeal to people who travel a lot on their bikes.

1I bought one of these a month ago and it rocks! I was looking all over for something like it but all I could find were bike radios which usually suck. It sounds really good and I can use different music depending on whether I’m training or just on a long ride.

2The system works well, I bought it for my daughter and she uses it all of the time. For safety reasons, I would never let her ride with ear buds (can’t hear the traffic around you) but i-tunes provides music for her while still letting her keep in touch with what is going on around her.

3Yes, I just got word that in certain states it is illegal to ride a bike with earbuds, obviously because of safety reasons.
I hope that clears things up.

4That is by far one of the best iPod ad-on that I have seen so far! It beats using headphones that make you deaf to traffic and such.
