Google Updates Google Talk
Google has released the newest version of Google Talk, an instant messenger. Google Talk, while a simple and clean messenger, was criticized for being a little to simple when it was released. The popular MSN Messenger had more features than Google Talk.
Google Talk however is different. However, most that I know don’t use it. I have it but can only communicate with a few that have made the switch or use both.
Yesterday, Google announced some brand new features in Google Talk which gives the messenger a needed boost.
File Transfering
Thank goodness. Google is usually ahead of the pack, but Google Talk didn’t have this important feature. In a world where files and digital media spread like wildfire over the Internet it’s good to see that Google has finally added this feature.
That might have been another reason why most stayed with their favorite instant messenger. Now at least it covers the full basics.
Send A Voice Message
Now this is classic Google. Always different, always doing something new. Google has placed this feature which you can use to basically send a voice message to someone when they don’t answer a call over Google Talk.
But what’s really neat is you can send it to anyone, even if they don’t use online calling. Think of an audible e-mail. You get it in your email account and simply hit play to hear it. Simple and convenient.
Whatcha Listening To ?
This feature is a neat one, but has already been used by MSN messenger. It’s basically a feature that allows users to view what song their friend is listening to. Another good feature to find out something you might not about a friend.
I really don’t care for it, but I’m sure that many out there do.
So, that’s the updates to Google Talk this time around. You can download their latest release here.
