GoogleGoogle has released its newest version of the Google Toolbar. It has been immensely upgraded and has added new features.

So let’s jump in.

New Search Functionality

SearchThe first thing that has changed is the search functionality. Of course, this is expected from Google. When you begin searching in the text box in the toolbar it instantly begins to give you suggestions for your search.

Here is an example of the word “chocolate”. A pop-up displays other possible search keywords that would better narrow your search. If you click on one of them that term will be searched in Google and the results displayed.

Another great feature is for those who remember the name of a website, but don’t know the URL.

All you do is type the name in and you will be directly taken to that website.

Add Your Own Buttons

This is a logical next step. What’s the point of a toolbar if you can’t customize it? Google now allows you to add buttons of any website to your toolbar.

Here’s how to add Gazotto (or any button) to your toolbar:

1. Find the search textbox of a site. Hover over it with your mouse. Right-click the mouse and select Customized Search.

2. A pop-up will ask you to confirm your selection.
3. The button appears in your toolbar.

Google Account Sign In

This is also new. Simply click on the Settings button and press sign in. You then have access to your personalized homepage, Gmail, and Google Groups.

Bookmarks Online

Image hosting by PhotobucketYou probably know how to add bookmarks for your favorite sites already. However, when you leave your computer your bookmarks don’t leave with you.

In this version of the Google Toolbar, you now can. All your bookmarks are stored online, so when you sign into another computer and sign in to your Google Account via the Toolbar you instantly have access to your bookmarks.

Send To Button

Send toThis new button allows you to simply share a webpage you have found with friends. Simply click this button and share the page with friends via Blogger, text message or Gmail.

If you only want to share a portion of a page simply select the text before clicking the button.

I think these features make the toolbar more functional and customizable. Google seems to be making the Google Toolbar a center point for its free services which is an interesting move.

Expect Google to add some more neat features the next time it updates its toolbar.
