Hi,

Wow Google is really going to be a tough competitor in the online spreadsheet arena. Though, I don't believe that the power of Excel ever can be reached with an online application running a bunch of JavaScripts.
I really like what http://www.xcellery.com does. They built online capability into an Excel file itself (beside their browser editor). It's the best of both worlds and it really works great.

Cheers,
John

Hey there,

Well, I forgot to mention that the link may not work as Google is taking it up and down for testing purposes. (I probably should have added that.)

It seems to be working as I write this now.

As for monetizing it, they have a little screenshot on the page and it doesn't seem to have any ads.

Google also released Google Calendar which doesn't have any ads. They just might choose to not run ads on Spreadsheets.

I signed up to check out Google Spreadsheets but will have to wait Google to e-mail me back so I can really check it out.

I get a "page cannot be displayed" error on http://spreadsheets.google.com/ is that the correct link?

Also, you do not mention how Google might monetize this - will this also include some version of adsense to generate income for Google through advertising?
