Google Swallows JotSpot
Well, Google’s appetite seems to be growing as Google announces that JotSpot has been bought. JotSpot was the creation of Joe Kraus and Graham Spencer who founded the company in order to allow wikis (a website that allows users to constantly add or edit content as a group. eg. wikipedia.com).
However, since wikis are used mainly by nerds (which would be me), they decided to bring this to a greater audience by provided an easy to use platform which allows web-based spreadsheets, calendars, documents and photo galleries to be created without any coding knowledge.
Joe commented on Google’s Blog that JotSpot had the same vision as Google and so after some discussion Google dipped into the wallet (one fat wallet I might add).
I think it’s a great move for JotSpot’s customers, because with more resources, the company can grow and reach it’s full potential. However, Google is looking more and more like Microsoft on the web. Microsoft ate up companies and Google is doing the same and the only difference is it’s doing it online.
