Google Introduces Calendar
Google has introduced Google Calendar, a free service which aims to put your agenda online. To use Google Calendar you simply need to login in with your Google Account or create one. The service simply displays an agenda with different allotments for time.
You simply click at the appropriate time and type in the event to create it. For example, clicking on 1-2 o’clock will open up a box which I can type: “Company Meeting”. Other events are added in a similar fashion.
You can also enter events in a more detailed matter by adding when and where the event will occur, and add a detailed description. Then a privacy level is set so that it can be made public, or private.
One also has the option to view their agenda in terms of a day, month, next 4 months, and a complete view of all the events you created. A neat feature is that you are also able to print of the calendar so you can have a hard copy with you if you need it.
It is also very easy to delete the event if necessary, by clicking on the event and then pressing the ‘Delete Event’ link.
The settings for Google Calendar allow you to name your calendar and even give it a description. However, a more powerful feature is that you share you calendar with people and even have them add events and make changes to them.
It’s an interesting concept and it will be interesting to see if people begin to use it. There are tons of software that do this already, but will people take to having more of their information placed online?
I for one probably won’t use this thing. I gave it a whirl and found it to be pretty simple and yet powerful. However, if you are one of those people that like to work out of an agenda give Google Calendar a try.
