Well, a couple days ago we told you of Creative’s announcement in Singapore to release a new
media player that would be as small as the price. Well, Creative has released the Zen V Plus and it is just as tiny as advertised.

The Zen V Plus, takes a stab directly at Apple’s iPod nano line and actually does quite well at trying to compete with it. Of all the iPod nano “killers” Gazotto has reviewed this one may actually end up being a decent competitor. I don’t believe that it will dethrone Apple however.

So, let’s delve into this gadget a bit more. The Zen V Plus comes in three possible storage capacities: 1 GB, 2 GB, and 4 GB and can play music, videos, show images, and allow you to listen to FM radio.

The color and feel are very modern and sleek. It comes in white/orange, black/orange (1 GB); white/green, black/green (2 GB); black/blue (4 GB). It’s kind of annoying that each capacity only has a certain choice of color schemes, but they do look good.

The screen is 1.5-inches diagonal and it has been reported that its image quality is very sharp. The battery life is 15 hours of straight music playback. The Zen V Plus also is compatible with music subscription services and supports podcasting.

What is a little different about this player is that it uses a 5-way joystick and not a click wheel. This makes it easier to switch menus and accessing functions, but I’ve read in other places that it doesn’t work as well as it states.

You can also record from any source that plays music such as your CD player with a simple cable that connects to the Zen V Plus. The Zen V Plus also has a calendar, an alarm clock and contacts and task list for you to use.

The Zen V Plus will be available in August for these prices (Singapore currency): $179 (1 GB), $229 (2 GB) and $329 (4 GB). There will be a price difference if you are in America.

The player will be available for sale online and in retail stores in Singapore. So if you don’t live in Singapore but want the Zen V Plus I suggestion grabbing it online once it’s released. It’s a nice little package and looks visually appealing.
