CeBIT 2006: Sony Ericsson’s W810 Walkman Phone

We continue our coverage of CeBIT 2006, by looking at Sony Ericsson W810 Walkman phone. Along with the walkman phone comes a digital camera that is also embedded into the phone and video capturing capabilities.

It definitely has a lot packaged up, as do many phones I’ve seen, but I don’t this one can deliver as well as other phones.

To begin, you probably aren’t going to be using this as a music player (at least not your primary music player). The phone only has 20MB of free space, but comes with 512MB Memory Stick PRO Duo card.

The W810 phone from Sony Ericsson contains a 2 megapixel camera with an autofocus feature and a 4X digital zoom. In my opinion the graphic quality of the camera is average. However, it does let you record and stream video.

Its Internet features are what you would expect in a phone. It allows you to e-mail, chat, send text, and image messages. And of course we love predictive message input (I can read your mind).

In terms of entertainment features, the W810 has an embedded FM tuner (yes that’s on top of everything else), a Media Player, and allows downloads of 3D and non-3D games.

Sony’s W810 cell phone works on the following networks: EDGE, GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900. The battery lasts for up to 8 hours for talk time and 350 hours standby time on each of these networks.

The W810 has a TFT screen, measuring 176 x 220 pixels. It is available in black only and weighs 99 grams or 3.5 ounces. Its dimensions are: 3.9 x 1.8 x .8 inches.

I like the look of the phone, and it does give you enough room to snap photos and record videos. Though, it has many bundled features, I wonder if maybe putting too much into the phone without having anything stand out is the downside of the W810 from Sony.
