CeBIT 2006: Samsung 40″ LCD TV
Samsung has released many new products at this year’s CeBIT show. One of their new products is a 40-inch LCD TV. The Samsung LE40R71B has an astounding contrast ratio and has redesigned the standard LCD TV, giving it a clean look throughout.
The first thing that is different is that all the control buttons of the TV have been moved over to the sides of the TV. A little odd? Yes, don’t forget that if you buy this thing. Samsung also introduced the first hidden bar type speakers on this 40″ TV. That hides the speakers but still allows the sound to remain undistorted.
Samsung’s also has a high gloss finish all over the TV which doesn’t happen on other LCD TVs. But looks is one thing. Yes, the LCD TV looks stunning, but let’s take a closer look at the specifications and features of the TV.
The LCD TV measures 40-inches wide, and features a swivel stand. The TV also has a Digital Natural Image Engine (DNIe) and claims to have the best off angle viewing.
It has a 1366 x 768 resolution but its 5000:1 High Dynamic Contrast Ratio is what makes this TV that remarkable. Plasma TV screens usually have that kind of contrast ratio and it’s good to see that LCD TVs can also finally produce the same result. The LCD TV can also produce more than 12.8 billion colours.
The 40-inch TV also features a game mode and PC input as well.
The Samsung LE40R71B comes in white and black and will be available first in Europe in late spring of 2006.
