Apple’s iPod and iTunes Announcements
Yesterday Apple made many announcements regarding the iPod, the iPod nano, and its iTunes service. I’m sure we reach many Apple fans (or haters) and we’d be eager to hear your response to these announcements by submitting your comments below.
iPod Nano

Apple released a plethora of new colors for the iPod nano. They introduced them in silver, black, blue, green, and pink (white is dead). This was likely inspired by the iPod minis Apple used to produce.
They have also lowered there prices, added an 8GB iPod nano and eliminated the 1GB nano. The 2GB come in silver, the 4 GB nano come in blue, green, pink, and the 8GB iPod comes in black. The nano has also been slightly re-designed to look like the mini.
It also has an astounding 24 hour battery life.
Personally, I liked the nano the way it was before. I really didn’t like the minis at all, and I think it actually takes away something from the “nano look”. However, the new design proves to be thinner and lighter.
iPod
As for the iPod itself, it too, received a much needed boost. Apple did away with the 60 GB model and instead has introduced an 80GB model (20 000 songs). It has lowered the price of the 30 GB iPod.
The iPods screen is now 60% brighter and the iPods allows the user to play games (bought from iTunes) such as Bejeweled, Cubis 2, Mahjong, Mini Golf, Pac-Man, Tetris, Texas Hold’em, Vortex and Zuma.
Other features include a Search and Quick Scroll feature, and Auto Sync technology which automatically downloads songs, movies, music videos and so on as soon as you connect to your computer.
iPod Shuffle
I had read on other blogs, which I can’t remember because it was awhile back, that the 1GB nano was supposedly the killer of the iPod Shuffle. Well, Apple killed the 1 GB nano and made the shuffle incredibly small. I really don’t like this move. I think the nano should have beat the shuffle.
However, the very tiny shuffle has a nice little clip so you can attach it to your clothing. Apple also knocked the price to a very reasonable $79 (US).
iTunes
Lastly, iTunes now has the capability to now download movies. A new movie can be preordered for $12.99 (within a week of release), then it costs $14.99 after the one week period, and other older movies cost just $9.99.
The movies that can be downloaded so far are Disney, Pixar, Touchstone & Miramax films.
