Apple Unveils 17″ MacBook Pro
Apple has created a 17″ MacBook Pro notebook. The previous version was a 15″ MacBook Pro and Apple has certainly made technological upgrades in this faster and larger notebook.
Customers should be pleased that upgrading the screen size wasn’t the only thing Apple has done. Firstly, speed is always an important factor and the 17″ MacBook Pro delivers 2.16 Ghz. It’s good to see that they have a CPU that can clock over the 2 GHz range. This is an improvement over the 1.83 and 1.67 GHz clock speed of the previous MacBook Pro versions.
The MacBook Pro also packs more of a punch with Intel’s Duo Core processing unit. This allows the notebook to speed up the time it takes to act on user and program commands. Secondly, the new 17″ MacBook comes with a bit more memory (upgradeable to 2GB; 1GB standard).
The MacBook also has a new internal architecture which Apple claims to be 4 times faster then the PowerBook G4. The notebook also contains a 120 GB, which is 20GB-40GB larger than its predecessors.
MacBook Pro’s 17-inch monitor is able to display images that are 36% brighter. Along with that the MacBook comes packed with a 256 MB of dedicated graphics memory with the ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 PCI card.
The new MacBook still comes bundled with the similar Apple software as the old one and features a built in iSight camera that can be used for video chat or conferencing. The notebook is slick and thin (1″). It will begin to be shipped in May 2006 and cost around $2799.
